Pool cues
It is important that your pool cues are straight if you
want to be able to play effectively and competitively. There are a few
different ways that people try to determine the straightness of these
cues. The way you determine this is up to you, but perhaps it would
be best to try one of these two methods.
• Method 1 – Just look at it. Many pool players will hold
the pool cues up to their faces at eye level to determine if the cues
are straight or not. The cues are held up horizontally and the player
simply looks across the cue to see if he can find any warps in it. If
no warps are found, then it is likely that the cue is straight. This
method is not fool proof, but it works most of the time.
• Method 2 – The second method involves a little bit more
than simply eyeballing the pool cues. In this method, a cue should be
selected and then laid flat on the felt of the pool table. Try to keep
the cue parallel with the side of the pool table.
Next, use your forefinger to slowly push and roll the cue across the
table. As the cue begins to roll, take your finger off of it and observe
the way the pool cues will roll. As it rolls, pay special attention
to the tip of the cue. If the tip is bent even a little bit, it will
not roll evenly across the felt. When this happens, the pool cues will
not be parallel with the side of the pool table any more.
